Summary (TL;DR)

The core commitments behind how Chrono Vane protects your privacy.

Local-First

All your check-ins, time blocks, categories, and settings are stored locally on your device in a private SQLite database.

No Account Required

You do not need to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address or phone number to use Chrono Vane.

No Sale of Data

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data or activity history under any circumstances.

Anonymized Telemetry

Technical diagnostics streamed directly to our OpenTelemetry backend to fix bugs. We never collect personal notes.

2

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

All personal information and user-generated content created within Chrono Vane remain exclusively on your device:

Time Blocks & Check-in Logs: Timestamps, chosen categories (Essentials, Growth, Pastime, Unplanned), purpose descriptions, and reflections.
Preferences & Settings: Check-in intervals, active hours, sleep/quiet hours, notification settings, and theme preferences (Light, Dark, System).

This data is stored in a sandboxed local SQLite database managed on your device. It is never uploaded to any remote database or cloud storage.

3

Telemetry & Diagnostic Data

To ensure the reliability, performance, and stability of the app, Chrono Vane collects technical diagnostics and performance metrics using OpenTelemetry standards (via the Embrace SDK and Grafana Cloud).

What We Collect:
  • Crash & Error Reports: Stack traces of unhandled exceptions or caught database errors to help us diagnose and fix bugs.
  • Performance Traces: Screen load times, database query durations, and app lifecycle events (e.g. app moving between foreground and background).
  • Device & Environment Metadata: Device model identifier (e.g. iPhone17,1), operating system version (e.g. iOS 18.2), app version, and an anonymized device identifier assigned by the telemetry SDK.
What We DO NOT Collect:
  • We never include the text of your time block notes, planned activities, or private inputs in telemetry logs or traces.
  • We do not collect your location (GPS), contact list, camera, microphone, photos, or browsing history.
4

Notifications & Permissions

Local Notifications: Chrono Vane requests notification permissions solely to deliver scheduled check-in reminders according to your configured interval and active hours.
On-Device Scheduling: All notifications are scheduled locally on the device operating system. We do not operate remote push notification servers or collect push notification tokens.
5

Third-Party Service Providers

Chrono Vane integrates with minimal third-party infrastructure solely for technical monitoring:

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking trackers, or cross-app ad networks.
6

Data Retention and Deletion

Local Data: Because your time logs and settings are stored locally on your device, you have complete control over them. Deleting or uninstalling the Chrono Vane app immediately and permanently removes all stored data from your device.
Diagnostic Data: Telemetry and crash logs stored in our monitoring backend are retained for a limited retention period (typically 30 days) and automatically purged.
7

Children's Privacy

Chrono Vane does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13. The app is a self-contained offline utility suitable for general audiences.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in this document and published on our website with an updated “Last updated” date.
